Freight Demand Index
A live snapshot of where freight demand is surfacing right now. LaneRadar tracks in-market shipper signals (new facilities, expansions, funding, logistics hiring, import spikes, and carriers losing operating authority) and ranks them for freight brokers. This page aggregates the 59 signals currently on the board, so you can see which commodities, regions, and trigger types are heating up. It is a snapshot of what our engine is seeing, not a census of total US freight demand.
of current signals are capacity-growth events (a new facility or an expansion), the shippers most likely to be adding outbound volume.
have an estimated $5M+ in annual freight spend, the mid-market and up where a broker relationship compounds.
of signals are dated within the last 90 days. Timing is the whole point: fresh signals convert before they reach a load board.
Demand by signal type
What is actually driving freight demand right now, by count of in-market signals.
- New facility / DC
- Manufacturer or distributor announced a new plant, DC, or fulfillment center
- Facility expansion
- Existing facility adding capacity, a proxy for outbound volume increase
- Logistics hiring
- Active job posts for transportation manager, logistics coordinator, supply-chain VP
- Carrier disruption (FMCSA)
- Their incumbent carrier had an FMCSA authority suspension / insurance lapse / out-of-service event, sourced from FMCSA + BOL dependency mapping. Highest-intent: they need a replacement NOW.

Methodology
- Sample: the 59 in-market shipper signals on the public LaneRadar board as of June 23, 2026, deduplicated by company. Counts are shown alongside every percentage so the sample size is always visible.
- How signals are found: an agentic research pipeline monitors public sources (company news, facility and funding announcements, logistics job posts, import/BOL records, and FMCSA carrier-authority events), then cross-checks each candidate with two independent models before it reaches the board.
- Signal score: a 0-100 blend of recency, intent, and broker fit, used to rank leads.
- What this is not: a census of US freight demand or a macroeconomic index. It measures what LaneRadar is actively tracking, which skews toward the commodities and regions we cover most deeply today.
